Led the product ideation, development, and launch projects for ideagist.com, a virtual incubator/accelerator for innovative ideas, supporting collaboration in the knowledge-based economy.
IdeaGist is a collaboration platform for entrepreneurs and innovators with ideas, and for people that are interested in new ideas. It is used in more than 300 entrepreneurial communities worldwide.
Led the upgrade (development and migration) of TechCast Global (www.techcastglobal.com) that offers a technology forecasting system to economic development and strategic planning organizations. TechCast Local uses continuous Delphi and a forecasting methodology developed at George Washington University, supporting a collaborative network of experts in a city or region. The project was completed within time and budget, securing Intellectual Property Office Singapore (IPOS) as an early adopter. The project used a distributed team of 10, using LAMP stack, AngularJS, GIT, and Selenium. The application is in production and hosted on Digital Ocean Cloud.
Led the solution design, development, and launch of www.EmergRx.com, a platform for pharmacies to hire pharmacists for their temporary needs, covering the end-to-end process, from shift availability to payments. Software development was outsourced to a vendor in India while customer and SMEs resided in Canada.
Led the product ideation, solution design, development and launch projects for www.TapAPhone.com. an NFC/BLE-based customer feedback system (IoT), collecting customer rating of services with a tap of a phone. The system was used in 2015 Montreal Grand Prix to collect feedback from visitors. This highly innovative product collected large amounts of data with a simple touch of a phone, without the need for loading an app.
Facilitated the discussions on organizational repositioning in collaboration with the staff, executive team, board members, key partners and stakeholders. Helped in defining a 20-year Vision that resulted in the board’s approval of the new direction within eight months of starting the new plan.
Led the development and launch of our e-Space employee portal for Twycross Zoo. Twycross “Our eSpace” is the central repository of information for staff. The purpose of this project is to improve productivity and effectiveness of communication and collaboration within the organization. Developed on MS SharePoint, it provides staff members access to guidance and key materials (policies, plans, procedure, and guidelines), lessons learned, best practices material as well as administrative forms and templates.
Designed and implemented a new global product development organization, in an onshore/offshore setting, which delivered 1.3 million source lines of code in a record time of 18 months. This high performing team delivered ZIMS Release 1.0 with an investment of ~$5M, valued at $19M by a third-party assessment of total earned value. ZIMS Release is now in use by 1,000+ customers all over the globe.
Led the development of RFPs, RFI and RFQs, negotiated contracts with strategic objectives. Built a network of vendors (both onshore and offshore), formed strategic partnerships and successfully managed relationships which helped Species 360 in always getting full attention from these partners and enjoying the favorite customer status with many of them.
Provided technical leadership in building a private cloud used for hosting ZIMS application and Global Community Portal in high availability environment. This network infrastructure has maintained 100% uptime since its startup in February 2010. Now hosting more than a terabyte of data, with 200m+ records, containing lifetime data on 2.6m animals, this network design is scalable to 50,000 users when fully deployed.
Managed major failure of a key vendor, negotiated a settlement and retrieved $2.7M in addition to what was already paid to the vendor. (ROI 100% over three years)
Initiated Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP) program and introduced the business concept to the executive management. Prepared business cases with ROI projections and secured funding from the City of Toronto for the project.
Xentek Corporation Canada
Radically transformed Xentek Corporation by adopting best project management and agile software development practices. The creation of a PMO helped improve repeat business from existing customers and referrals from clients. The services revenue grew from CAD$500K to $4.5M in four years.
Led the creation and successful execution of technology rollout plan that supported aggressive growth targets and strategic business objectives for a large chemical manufacturing company. The implementation of this plan resulted in a reduction in inventory levels by 25%, order backlog time from two weeks to three days, and cost of goods sold from 70% to 68%. This Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP) and Supply Chain Management (SCM) program completed successfully with an ROI of 480% over the life of the four years program.
Led the development of a specialized ERP product for small to medium size chemical manufacturing companies. Completed project on time and within budget by delivering UniProcess™ ERP package to the client. Offshore development of the product helped the client in saving $2M from their initial investment estimates.
